to be honist i think ricoh/pentax are starting to price them selfs out off the market One I can afford ?
they need to come back to reality forget the lenses and get the focusing right on the cameras and lenses they have
i meen the k3ii replacement maybe 2 or 3 years down the line but it would have made more sence to have put there resources in to the downfalls than producing limited k1s

I'm giving up waiting, and will be selling a body and my 150-450 to go Nikon and either 200-500 or 150-600. Pentax will never make a fast prime again, and so the Nikon will be a starter to my retirement lens.

There are two fast primes in the works, so maybe you could save yourself a bit of cash by waiting a little longer? There are also plenty of other makers providing fast lenses, although some are quite expensive.
Best regards, John

Who makes a 500/600 f4 for Pentax? I've never found one, and the 560 f5.6 is slow to focus, and not really much faster than the 150-450. Do you know what's coming?

Who's got £8,000 to buy one (or even up to £11,000 depending on the make?)Who makes a 500/600 f4 for Pentax?
But this one's close and affordable: https://www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk/sigma-50-500mm-f4-5-6-3-dg-os-hsm-lens-pentax-...

That's the thing. Pentax would charge more than equivalent Canikon, but I'd be willing to invest. That said, the K3 II still can't focus track like Nikon et al.Kevriano wrote:

I've tried that Sigma, it's not as good as the 150-450 by a long chalk. I own that lens and it's great (see my Osprey shots), but I want 600mm...

I have a film era 2x telecoverter which takes my 150-450mm up to 900mm potentially. However I did a comparative test on a K1 with that combo and without the teleconverter but cropped; the latter was slightly sharper. Point is, with the superb sensor on the K1 you have much more scope for cropping and still get great results and not need to carry a bazooka lens.

I really don't see the point of suggesting £1000 Sigma zooms, manual focus lenses or 2x teleconverters. If he has the cash then nothing Pentax currently has (or is going to have) is going to compare with a Nikon/Canon 500mm/600mm prime ... especially when matched up with their top crop cameras.
Kevriano, if you have the spare cash then go for it ... lifes to short to live the rest of it wondering "What if".

Why? Because he asked who makes a 500/600 f4 for Pentax. Can't see where he says he's awash with £££.

I'm still waiting for a compact, APS-C-only 35mm f/1.4 but I don't see one coming. Really what I want is the image quality from the DA 35mm limited with an extra couple of stops. Can you imagine???
I'd sell almost whatever it took to get the funds for a lens like that.

What mock-up primes were those?
I can't think why anyone with a 43 or 77 would go for a 50 or 85. There are older lenses at those focal lengths that work very nicely on ff too.
I think there are rather more of us that don't wish to go for the 15-30 (terrific lens though it well may be) because of the size and because it requires a whole new filter system. Wide primes are an obvious hole in the line-up and should be prioritised.
Ricoh are not doing very well. The vast majority of the company that is, of which the camera business is a titchy (and by all accounts unprofitable part). I hope that doesn't impact on everything except the Theta, but it well might.
