It looks like a juvenile Starling, possibly fresh out of a birdbath!!

Definitely the beak of a blackbird. Starlings have a more pointy beak to poke into your lawn to find creepy crawlies.

Update on my wasp war, despite the battery of wasp nest sprays the most effective treatment was wedging a piece of wood into the entrance of the underground nest.
