I suppose it depends what the item is. In relation to a camera, it might mean a different power lead for the charger at least.

It means that it has a stetson instead of a lens hood, the camera body is a colour match for one of their "loud" shirts, the camera strap resembles a pair of Rupert Bear trousers, and every time you press a button, it has an audible warning that loudly announces "Ah'm from the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, boy!!" in a Deep South accent!!

I think it's the 'American version' of Ebay (i.e. Ebay.com) rather than a US version of the lens.

it's probably loud, obnoxious and narcissistic, but self deluded and thinks everybody hates it because it's special?

what it doesn't know is that we do hate it because it's 'special'
