Cluster plus the fact you can see the halo effect in these would have me concerned. Have only seen one camera with a problem after Pentax's stated December manufacture date but it is possible.

As a wet clean doesn't sort it I would be considering another return .. maybe I will check mine in the morning.

Why do these stains seem to grow? Is it a biological organism, the new 'fungus' maybe, or a photographic version of E.Coli?

I am so close to buying a K5, but K5 problems just keep on cropping up.

If it's an inherent manufacturing defect, it should be covered for up to 6 years under European law.

I think Pentax are going to be replacing these for years to come.

Is it really Pentax's fault though, or Sony's, the sensor manufacturer?

Are there other cameras using the same sensor from other makers?

Like said it's a manufacturing defect.
There is a filter infront off the sensor and the dirt is sandwitch between it so if it's there it's there if not then not.

Whatever the contamination is, it seems to be invisible to begin with but causes a gradual failure of the adhesive between the filter and the sensor, creating those little 'bubbles'.
