what do YOU do with your photos?
I'm a member of a local Photo workshop where some of the printed ones get shown & members also have the opportunity to display at a few club exhibitions each year...
There are now thousands stored on my hard drive, I tell myself I'll go through & sort them sometime. At least with digital I look at the images more often than I did with film!

okay, this may seem like a really daft question, but what do you do when you have taken your photos?
I load them onto my computer, and import them into Lightroom. I then evaluate them and spend some time editing the best ones.
I then export them as 1400x1000 ( max size ) jpgs and import them into a mirror Lightroom catalogue
I then rate them and keyword them.
Then I create a gallery of the breast and put them on my forum Smeggy's and Facebook. I also create a selection fo about 10 to 20 and show them here and at other Pentax forums
but most satisfying I sit back after a few glasses of wine and music playing and enjoy a slideshow of them.

Was the mind wandering a bit there Smeggy?

To answer the OP...
Download onto laptop
cull the rubbish - delete...then more ruthlessly delete those that aren't up to the mark...
Load onto 2 x 1.5 Tb Iomega drives - mirrored.
Delete RAWS off laptop
Now laptop is getting full of JPEGs
Will purchase 2 x 500Gb portables
Copy all files onto them..
Shrink older JPEGS to 1080x780ish....
Those that I like I will print off A3 and frame (editing LR3.6 CS5) - if I have been on a trip then I will make a book on blurb. Sometimes cards.
AKA Welshwizard/PWynneJ
Assorted Pentax/Nikon/Mamiya stuff
Some get printed and framed.
Some get made into birthday or Christmas cards.
Some go into online albums to share with the family.
Most sit on a couple of hard drives.
Then images are made as required for work, EPZ, PU, ADAPS, photography talks, slide shows, books, whatever is needed.
Photography with a purpose is always better than aimless photography, even if the purpose is a personal one to improve.
Best regards, John
thats sounds good. where do you get them done?
anyone recommend a good service for this?
Best regards, John
I have come back to photos years later and realised I had something wonderful which I had initially dismissed.
They run as a slideshow on my PCs so I get to look at them all the time.
My Photobucket
2. I post series (rarely a single shot) onto forums.
3. I create photo-books for my family and friends and as presents.
4. I sell a few (nowhere near as many as I'd like) !
5. I enter a few competitions.
6. I keep triple copies of everything I decide to keep.

The keepers are labled in a folder - some go on flickr - some on facebook some are copied for people (Sisters kids for my mum and dad etc) some get printed as gifts (We gave pictures to people for christmas and it went down really well and was relitively inexpensive)...
I like the idea of putting prints into a book... You don't see photo albums too often these days

when i had a film camera, i just got the roll developed and would end up with 24 or 36 photos which would be looked at a few times then put in the cupboard, shoebox, album etc etc etc.
with digital though its very convenient to delete the ones you dont want, but all too easy to still end up with hundreds on an sd card. so what do you do from there? do you print them all off or just print off a few "better" ones....print at home or "send them away" to be printed, or do you even print them? copy to cd to be viewed on a tv or computer?
so, what do YOU do?
i feel like im just snapping away for the sheer fun of it, but with not a lot end product so to speak.
any advice would be most welcome.
regards,
simon.
