Digital Projectors for Still Images

It's almost time to look at replacing the ADAPS projector, currently a Sony widescreen that is good but not as good as newer models.

Competition standards use 1400x1050 pixel files, but visiting speakers invariably bring widescreen laptops. The still image quality is paramount, but the projector still needs to handle a normal wide range of uses.

It strikes me that therefore we need a 1920x1080 projector, but most of these are marketed as "home cinema" which may or may not be suitable for our purpose.

Does anyone have any insight into this that would help in choosing the right projector?

John - as far as I understand it, the phrase "home cinema" is used to describe in layman's terms the speed by which the projector's circuitry can process the signals that ultimately become the projected moving image. The quality of the still image there for should (in theory, at least) be a high-definition (or pretty close to it) image projection. I think, therefore, that in the case of still images, you should be looking at the amount of colour bleed the projector has, and indeed the colour rendition.
