What Did You All Get?

Vic - unfortunately I've just purchased a manual focus 645 outfit (with just the standard 75mm lens). I could be interested in some additional lenses (if cheap!) and the 645 to 35mm adaptor though so please drop me a PM with some idea of prices etc.

finally got to open my presents late last night. No K10D under the tree No, I didn't really expect one, but ever hopeful. Especially after forking out a fortune (€700 ) on an amp for his acoustic guitar

Never mind I did get a Bamboo one graphics tablet to play with , and a really geeky thing (which I think he wanted so gave to me) a GPS travel recorder from Ostarz. Similar idea to the Sony one but different. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet so will have to get back to you on that one. (If I ever get it back from him that is....)

Now I'm going to play with my Bamboo.

I got a Steve Parish photography book, a rocket blower, some golf gear, a chef's pan and a few extra pounds.

I got flu off one of our dinner guests so i'm sat here feeling sorry for myself sipping Beechams Lemsip.
Apart from that I got the usual stuff like shirts, socks, alcohol, a few CD's, a very nice Armani watch and a partridge in a pear tree.
Did I want any Camera gear?, not really, my new year resolution is to get my moneys worth out of what I have allready but that of course depends on anything I might spy in a sale window

Daughter #2 finally arrived after driving in the middle of the only snowstorm in North America, all the way from Toronto to Montreal.

4.5hr. drive took 9hrs.

Opened gifts for over an hour - TONS of stuff . Literally

Much of mine geared at getting my tubby body outside - snowshoes, snorkling gear, ingenious bird feeder.

Much of it aimed at exercising my flabby mind - books, novels, crosswords (put's me in mind of my recent rant - at least they didn't buy me that gizmo from TV ).

But, nothing that goes click , and nothing that has SMC coating .

Got close though - a certificate for photo-developing at our local Maxi food store. (They have their own processor - not too shabby).

Maybe just as well, I've got a few ideas I'd like to research before I take the DSLR plunge, and that's a big part of the fun for me.

Used a Spotmatic II with a 55mm 1:1.4 Super Tak under an AF280T flash to record the event - looked like a stately old bomber amidst three little point-and-shoot fighter jets. (The CAMERA, not the pilot!)

So, apart from the Spider getting the Christmas plague, it sounds like we all had a happy time, and that's what I was hoping for.

I got a Michael Freeman book - Close up Photography, and a Stofen omni-bounce for my Samsung AF-540.

I'll experiment, but any tips on using the latter would be appreciated.

I got a shirt, some chocolate, a CD, a wallet, a clock radio and a wheel brace.

In addition, I also inherited a new (to me) Pentax camera! It's a Pentax Zoom 90 (late 80's era compact with a 38-90mm lens and AF, motor drive, etc) complete with original box, paperwork and accessory leather case - none of which had ever been used. It belonged to my (late) Great Aunt who bought it when her eyesight started to deteriorate as she thought the AF would help her get shots in focus - she was a great photographer in her day but unfortunately died before even running a single film through the Pentax. My Great Uncle had heard on the family grapevine that I was using a Pentax camera now and thought I might like to have a play with it (all her old 35mm SLR and medium format gear was re-distributed and/or sold many years ago). Needless to say, I've put some CR123's and a roll of Ilford Delta 400 into it and I'm now looking for a good excuse to go and shoot some film again - New Year's Eve's looking a likely bet right now...

My Christmas bonus bought me these for Xmas:-

And my credit card bought me a Pentax 18-250mm for £329.99!

Parents bought me a new monitor (22" its quite nice.
Got a few books, dvds, the usual
Treated myself to buying a 10-17mm fisheye today though
And I got some money towards some new clothes.

Nothing photographic at Christmas but a surprise bonus allowed me to order a DA 10-17 fisheye and a Metz 58 - AF1 flashgun today from Chris @ SRS.

Hopefully they will arrive on Monday and both can get an outing in the evening.

got a 16-45.... rumor has it there are some elinchrom bits and manfrotto lightstands and clamps coming from Toronto.... I hope there's a manfrotto boomstand in there too!

I got the Pentax Photo Annuals for 2006 - 07 and 2007 - 08 impressed with the photography, but as I don't read Japanise (forgive my spelling) I was wondering how you submit work for possible publication in later issues etc, this is assuming HOYA will keep this publication going.

Whisky, The Sean Connery Bond films on DVD and a horrible jumper!
