Works fine for me. I found the Nikons a little clunky. Of course, neither brand is upthere with Pentax on handling : )smc wrote:

We have various forms of police here, as you would expect in modern high-surveillance Britain.Gues I will have to remember I am being monitored by the Grammar Police

Daniel is a member of the Philosophy and Logic Squad. I am jointly responsible for grammar, along with a few other sticklers for correct usage (or pedants, depending on your point of view).
Peter Smith looks after spelling. Woe betide you if you think that LENS is a five-letter word.
The Grocers' Squad keeps an eye out for errant apostrophes.
Perhaps the most feared division is the Academie Pentaxaise, which comes down very heavily on anybody who dares to admit that they are thinking of switching to another brand. This is only possible with a dispensation from His Holiness and documented proof that you MUST have an 800mm lens and what some people call a full-frame sensor.

Indeed , I should have learned from other websites that one does tend to get "jumped on" if one isnt careful what they say. I will make of point restricting my posting to things I am more qualified to talk about
Sorry if I was a little blunt. I was just somewhat confused by the asking of opinions on which camera to choose, followed by the "nit picking" comment. Basically, any dslr on the market will produce a great photograph. It's what suits you best that counts. Some lower budget models are intentionally handicapped by the makers so that they do not compete with more expensive models in their range, so just make sure the model you choose is capable of all the features you may require.Indeed , I should have learned from other websites that one does tend to get "jumped on" if one isnt careful what they say. Although asking on a Pentax forum will generally lead you in one direction only, many here will advise other models if a specific need is evident.
Plus nobody needs to be "qualified" to talk about any subject here, so please do not let me be the one to discourage you.
Back to the topic in hand. What kind of photography do you tend to shoot most or aspire to ?

Oh dear, bar an adaptall 80-210mm which doesn't count as it'll fit any brand., my longest focal length is 50mm. I'm gonna need several teleconverters !

Bit of everything I guess, anything that I find interesting .I Really enjoyed my Contax 139 and Ziess 50mm 1.7 together with Tamron 70-200mm. Have loads of prints but unfortunately no scanner else I would put some on flicker.I should have kept the Tamron but had no body or use for it at the time so it went with the deal on ebay with the Camera.hkwiles wrote:

I liken the Camera scene to Hi Fi , buffs more interested in the pops and crackles ( or lack of!) rather than the music the system plays Lol
Have decided on the K 7 anyway, I think the size and weather proofing will be most useful and system WR lenses will be more than adequate for my initial use..
Next thing to think about will be a semi decent printer to print off A4 size..all sugestions for this will be asked in due course LoL.

You might find it to be cheaper and more convenient to use a trade printer than to print your own.
I found my local branch of Snappy Snaps to be most helpful. They offered to print some pictures free of charge to check that they were able to get the results I wanted. They are of course a franchise (I believe) so my branch may not be representative.
