First time pentax buyer and forum newbie here so "hi all!"
I've just taken delivery of a WG-2 GPS and I am really pleased with it so far. Bought for my holiday in a few weeks so we don't have to lug the DSLR everywhere and can keep it for round the pool etc
Wonder if anyone can help with one thing though? I cant seem to activate the self-portrait assist mode by using the face detection button (in any mode)as per the manual. I've been through (I think!) every other menu to see if I need to enable it elsewhere but can't find anything
Any help would be gratefully appreciated - tks
Hi, weealbie! Goof to know there's also a newbie here in Pentax (WG-2) and in Pentax in general. That's interesting, will wait for answers, too.

I can't find an OPM online for this, so difficult to give you both a walk-through. All I can suggest is to contact Pentax customer services for advice. Sorry I can't help, but I'm sure one of the other members (likely to be John Reilly - he's a great guy for offering help) can advise.

I'm flattered Steven, but although I've checked the manual online I can't really see what the answer to this one is. I was hoping someone would know!
Best regards, John

I have the older, WG-1, version and on this self portrait seems to work fine.
There are though some modes and settings which prevent selection of the self-portrait modes.
I downloaded the WG-2 manual (from here) to see if it also has similar restrictions.
There is a table on pages 220 & 221 which list the functions available for different shooting modes. In summary I think the following will prevent the self-portrait modes from being available:
Having the macro light on (Rec. Mode Menu 4)
Any Movie Mode
Digital Microscope Mode
Wide Mode
Pet Mode
Digital Panorama Mode
Report Mode
So as a quick test it might be worth trying it in something simple, like Auto Picture Mode, with the macro light selected to be off, just to see if the self-portrait modes are then available.
Apologies if this does not fix the problem as I am only coming from the WG-1 and don't have any experience of using the WG-2
