West Yorkshire meet

I've never really shot birds before... Fairburn Ings is a local wildlife location right?
I've got a 50-200mm... Will that be long enough for a trip like this?
I generally shoot fairly wide...

You may be able to manage a few shots at 200 from a couple of locations near the feeders, although there will be quite a bit of foilage on the trees by the end of May which will make shooting birds even more difficult. I personally will be going with the intention of shooting Macros and of course meeting up with old friends and making new ones

You never know who you might meet!

If your considering the trek Ken I can go down a few days beforehand and confirm that ariel combat has begun

The only thing that concerns me with a weekend meet is the number of kids that may be using the pond dipping platforms armed with nets and bowls, as they are the best place to grab shots.

I don't know if it has a bearing on the weekend but on my calendar Monday 30th is Spring Bank Holiday

I'd love to come but have another commitment that day.

I'd love to be there to meet up with some old friends and a some new ones but I'm not really a natural history type of photographer. I don't posess either macro or very long lenses. Could you pursuade one or two lovely gothic ladies to come along as well Spider?

I can ask in the cabin what numbers are usually like, I should be down there in the next week or so, but TBH I cant see it being much busier on a BH Saturday than any other, Sunday and Monday most likely will be.

Wasn't really expecting you guys to trek down this far for what is in effect a rather impromptu meet, and there isn't a pub on the reserve anyway

I would have come if it had been another day, but I'm going to the opera that night and I don't really fancy a full day walking around followed by a four hour drive beforehand.

And while I'm at it I should mention that I think this meet should be "Weather Permitting" there is very little to see and do at Fairburn if the weather is dire, so lets see how the weather fairs

So if the weather looks dire you'll cancel the meet on this thread the day(or 2) before?

Nah! I certainly wouldn't call you strange HG, I'm sure I could find a more suitable word

As for the weather Its is looking quite dire at the mo', we need some nice bright sunshine. I was down at Fairburn on Friday, only spotted about half a dozen Damselflys, but did get a good long look at the Kingfisher, though sadly too far away for decent pics.
