I would suggest Fairburn Ings at the end of May to first week in June, should be plenty of bugs and critters about and hopefully Damsels and Dragons, any other ideas?

Never been there Alan. I'd be up for anything really, just to get out and meet a few people and take photos.
Very End May/start June OK with me.

I shoot most of my birds down at Fairburn but not everyone has a long enough lens, but come the end of May the ponds are teeming with Damsels and the Dragons are flying around like Spitfires, you dont even need a macro for good shots as a kit lens would do the job, its a bit limited though as you only have the option to shoot birds, bugs and flowers {unless you have a better eye for landscapes than I do)

Ideally a midweek meet would be best (crowd-wise) but not everyone can do weekdays

So lets see who interested and when....Neil? I know your interested

I'll check which weekends I'm working and get back on this one 'spider.

If I'm off the last weekend in May I could be tempted.
Cheers, HG

Looking at the calender I'll throw Sat 28th or Sun 29th of May into the ring.

How do these dates sound to everybody?

Sound like good dates to me HG

The Sunday will probably be the busiest, so would suggest sticking to Saturdays. Anyone else OK with Saturday the 28th?

Fairburn Ings is free although there is a small charge for the car park for non-RSPB members (about £2 I think)

Karls humour aimed at Barrie may not be far off the mark, Fairburn has no cafe, though they do have sandwiches cakes and pies, and not forgeting the requisite drinks machine (from which the coffee isnt half bad) the sandwiches leave a lot to be desired so the suggestion to "bring sum snap" is not without merit but the sarnies do fill a hole and as long as you like cheese and pickle or ham and chutney etc then your quids in.

To whet your appetite I shot this last year on the 24th May.

I don't see why I can't do either of those dates - probably erring towards the Sat if I had to choose.

I wonder if Barrie knows what snap is?
