Hi, I have been reading your forum for a couple of months getting hints and tips and have finally decided to join in.
Quicky boutme. I live and work on a dairy farm in beautiful West Wales, I have stunning landscapes right outside my kitchen window! The skies are dramatic and ever changing. I am so lucky to be able to see numerous Red Kites and Buzzards every day. We are about 20 minutes drive from the fantastic coast around Cardigan Bay, and 40 minutes from the Pembrokeshire coast.
I have been taking pictures since I was 18 (32 years ago!) although I went digital 5 or 6 years ago with a compact, I have only recently purchased a DSLR again, Pentax was the obvious choice as I had used an MX for so long and my lens would fit. Yes they fit but the new digital lenses are a joy so they are back in the loft!
Current Kit. K-m with the 2 lens pack.

Hi, Welcome to the best forum on the www. I know how you feel about Wales as we have live in beautiful North Wales for 8 years now, it was the beauty of our valley that got me back behind an SLR.

Hello and Welcome from North East Wales

West Wales INHO is fantastic, the people the pace of life etc etc

We plan to retire somewhere in that region - got about 25 years to wait though but still making our list of locations

Thank you for the warm welcome, I have made a start with posting a few pictures already.
Red Kites were flying above the farm today using the thermal off the big barn roofs, they were way too high for my 500mm mirror but I had a go any way!
Manual everything & hand held.

That's an excellent hand-held view of a kite! Nice to know that they are again relatively common in Wales. When I was a boy, in the Dee valley a few miles downstream from Bala, there were plenty of buzzards but I only once glimpsed a kite in the Berwyns.

My father bought a house near Llanon when he retired in 1960: it sounds as though you are a bit south of there. My parents liked it, but not being able to get a beer when they went out to Sunday lunches eventually got to him, and they moved to the English side of the border!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on sticking with Pentax.

Gladly we can get a beer here in Wales on a Sunday these days

I can recall Porthmadog still being a no beer zone into the nineties though
