I love a picture that tells a story and even better if that story is released to me slowly. If I owned this picture it could hang on my wall and keep me interested for a very long time without knowing all the answers to that story. I am just dying to know what the sign says to make this person so intent on it. The posture of the subject reminds me of the defiant student blocking a tank in the Tiananmen Square demonstration years ago.

You definitely deserve FIRST PRIZE Lilly, a great high quality capture using REFLECTION as the theme.

For me when it comes to a good photographic image the equipment details are as important as the brand of paint or brush used by the artist in a great painting. In my opinion it is all about the message and if the artist conveyed it to me.

PS: Here's a great quote I made note of a few weeks ago:

A great photograph is one which shows us what we saw (or would have seen had we been there), but didn't notice. The photographer, or artist in the medium of photography, saw something that the ordinary person might see, but wouldn't SEE, without the insight and imagination of the artist. -G

That depends on all the steps in the processing preserving the EXIF information. Frequently not the case, unfortunately.

I think that's only a fair point if you, or I, were just general viewers. But we're not, we're photographers, and we have a legitimate interest in the tools other photographers use to create their masterworks.

You can bet that when Leonardo and Michelangelo met, they discussed tools and techniques, paints and paintbrushes.

I shall endeavor to keep to the same standards on judging the next competition which is about to be posted.

Great quote Drew, ...... photography to me, has always been about aiming to photograph what others may miss.

I wish I could tell you Drew, but I can't.. I do know though it was the 'Peoples' Holiday and there were much celebrations, we shall just have to imagine what the sign says, perhaps it adds to the mystery!
