Am I hallucinating but has John Riley submitted a photo taken with a Fugi FinePix ?
Are Pentax heading for the administrators or is the world about to end ...

Do I read this right? Can I now upload pictures taken on another of my cameras? I often carry a smaller camera in my bag but it isn't always a pentax. The K10D is just a little too large & heavy for my handbag. For me the spirit of photography is in the skillful use light & image. The kit used is secondary, although I am a Pentax fan otherwise I wouldn't have gone with Pentax. It isn't the camera that makes the photograph its the person behind the lens.

I don't think there's ever been a written rule stating that pictures must be shot with Pentax equipment, just an unwritten understanding that those shot with other brands are disqualified from actually winning (although in the past a couple of non-Pentax/Samsung winners have slipped through the net). Nothing's changed as far as I can tell, you can still enter non-Pentax pics and receive critique on them but you won't be considered for a podium spot.
Which seems fair in a Pentax weekly competition...

Ok, yes that's fair enough.

Yes, that makes sense Hefty... I had the impression all things non-Pentax were swiftly banished by the moderators! I personally wouldn't want to post such images to the gallery or competitions, but occasionally to the My Pictures forum for C&C or discussion perhaps.
Edit - I think the confusion arose in my mind because of a member who migrated to another system, and was posting pictures which may have seemed to be trying to vindicate his decision... he was requested to stop. I guess that's a different thing than committed Pentax users occasionally posting pics taken with secondary compact cameras etc.

Really, have I? I wonder - as the picture is a composite image it might have been shot with anything, or maybe a mixture of things. I didn't look to be honest.
If it makes everyone happier that we stick strictly to the Pentax only requirement then just disregard the image. No problem! Nobody's perfect...

On reflection, the picture has been withdrawn, and as that was my one allowed attempt for the week it won't be replaced.
Don't get me wrong - it's not taken off in a fit of pique or anything like that, but it's simple things like this that can open the floodgates and all sorts of marginal things start getting posted. Especially if anyone os feeling mischievous!
So, you're quite right. Pentax only.

Appolagies John. I did not want your splendid photo removed and nowhere in your set of rules does it say that it has to be from a Pentax.
It was just the shock
You are our well respected, honoured, father of our forum and protector of the brand.
While its not my, humble, place to criticise I just don't understand how anyone, especially you, can expect to achieve anything with even part of an image that has not passed through the World acclaimed SCM coating, and that is without considering what was used to sample it
Glyn
Edit: I vote you put it back up!

Ah well, I can see I'm not being let off the hook that easily.
Ashamed, I retreat into my cave, sorry, computer room, and when I have done the required penance I shall emerge again! Chastened and wiser, maybe...
At least Glyn you have answered the question "Who watches the watchers?"
