Hi, having just changed over to Pentax { k30 ] and thought the weather resistant and cold resistance was pretty impressive. However I now realise when I had my other systems and it was wet and cold I told myself protecting my camera was the reason to stay in the warm. I now realise I was protecting myself as I hate cold wet weather. Am I the only whimp on this site ?......... but how many are like me ?

Dave.

Me .. I hate the rain, which is a bit daft as one of the main reasons I first bought a Pentax (K10D) was for the weather resistance.

Colour in the rain is gorgeous - you guys need to get out there and discover it all. Remember, people are water resistant....
Best regards, John

Yes you are a wimp!

Have just spent the day out in the snow and blizzard conditions with temperatures of around -5!

Don't have my camera with me at this house - just make do with the one on my phone.

I must say I am happy to be a whimp.....Ha! I spent many years working out in all weathers/temperatures 24 hours a day. I got my name Mrfrosty from workmates who noticed my hair was the same colour as all the railway wagons in the yard where we worked at 4am on a winters night. I spent many years fishing all year round apart from the closed season. However as time went by I went fishing less in cold weather and for the last few years I have enjoyed a summer season only but loved it . I am 59 years of age and do not enjoy the cold any more , but be it fishing / photography or any other hobbies I think any hobby is about what a person gets out of it and everyone is not the same { be sad if we all did the same thing } Just laughing at myself having a camera more weather resistant than myself and wondered what comments it would attract.
Thanks for your comments..........
Mrfrosty..............

I'm out in all weathers with the K-5's and they take everything that the British weather can throw at them! Almost all my best pics have been shot in what could be described as 'inclement' weather.

I don't enjoy the rain much, but if I'm well kitted out it is not a problem.

Dry and cold, now that is something else. It is marvellous. The visibility is often very good and the sun is never very high in the sky so the light tends to be good too. If it is below freezing then walking in many upland area is just so much easier - no sinking in or taking detours to avoid the bogs.

I think the Pentax anorak joke was used a few days ago on another thread.

I can't stand the cold, but really there's some striking pics to be had when the weather is striking, Heavy Rain/Snow/Storms/etc.

Weather resistant or not there's always a way around it. Wrap a plastic bag over your cam/lens.

I also hate the cold, my fingers really suffer and have yet to find a pair of gloves that keep the ends of my fingers warm on the really cold days.

I don't mind the bad weather if there is decent light

I live in Wales - if I stayed in when it rains I would hardly venture out

Hopefully, the rain will begin to get warmer and less white soon
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

Not this weekend it won't Stuey! Have you seen the forecast? Just right for getting some dramatic snow shots with your weatherproof cameras!

Cheers
