I can recommend the Giottos MTL 9315B. If you need a hide clamp you can take out the center section and put on a Manfrotto 349 aluminium hide column clamp. I have found it very useful just to carry the center column with the clamp, to fix to fences etc.
The older I get the faster I was.

I've got a RedSnapper (http://www.aldine.co.uk/redsnapper/tripod-3wayhead-combo.html) and can highly recommend. Do a Google on them and you'll find comments on various forums (or fora for those requiring grammatic precision ) singing their praises. Worth the money.

OK lads thanks for all your help, I have bought the one from Amazon after reading all the reviews, link it will take 4 kilos so at the price it will do for me although the postage was 20 quid, so another problem sorted,
thanks all,
Jack.

Thanks smc, well my last one lasted 35 years and as I don't use a tripod much I think this one will outlast me for sure,

Jack.
