I can recommend the Giottos MTL 9315B. If you need a hide clamp you can take out the center section and put on a Manfrotto 349 aluminium hide column clamp. I have found it very useful just to carry the center column with the clamp, to fix to fences etc.
The older I get the faster I was.

I've got a RedSnapper (http://www.aldine.co.uk/redsnapper/tripod-3wayhead-combo.html) and can highly recommend. Do a Google on them and you'll find comments on various forums (or fora for those requiring grammatic precision :wink singing their praises. Worth the money.

Thanks smc, well my last one lasted 35 years and as I don't use a tripod much I think this one will outlast me for sure,
