i am looking for a GOOD filter - UV or protector
and possible a polarizer too

Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

hundreds and hundreds on ebay, some might be fake, and still havent found any good deal there - so would rather buy from someone from the forum who i can trust.

Go via Amazon, look for CameraKing, always had good service form them and goo prices too....

UV filters are built into the camera on the sensor, unless you are shooting film you dont need one...
Its a fallacy that they 'protect' your front element = the front bit of glass is toughened glass and more likely stronger than any glass filter. also by putting a filter infront of the lens you reduce clarity i dont care how 'GOOD' it is, physics dictates you are reducing image quality.
