I've seen that one but way out of my price range. I missed out on one in the UK the other day for UKP250.00, they (?X?? Company, can't remember the exact name) gave me a quote for shipping and when I phoned to place the order someone else had already phoned and reserved it and then bought it.

250GBP is very cheap, possibly for good reason. The going rate for these is anywhere between 599GBP and 799GBP.

I also thought that it was very cheap, not 250 but 295 I see, that's why I phoned them and they confirmed it's condition, here is the extract from their price list

They were selling it on a commission basis for a private seller.

I do not expect to find another one at that price but when shipping is added to the prices you quote it becomes too expensive.

MXV are out of business as of 2 weeks ago, so you probably had a lucky escape.

Yes, I dealt with them in early September so they were already in trouble.

As an update on this old post.

I found my Pentax K 500mm f4.5 today paid the equivalent of UKP 350.00. Comes with the original box, leather case and factory certificate and is in perfect condition.

I'm a happy man.

In theory that means that I've bought the last of the MF lenses I set out to get, that does not mean I won't be tempted

It's made a few trips to SA already.

Just booked my flights to SA. Fly to Cape Town in late January and then back from Jo'burg in early February - driving from Cape Town to "somewhere" could be PE or Durban or ... then fly up to Jo'burg. No business class available, so it has to be First! and got totally upset when I have to pay £600 in taxes!

Don't know if I will have much time in Jo'burg, it may be a day or two or just a few hours, but I'll let you know!

That was me, Greg. Sorry I beat you to the punch. The only slight defect on the lens was a couple of very small patches where the coating was wearing a bit thin but you had to look very hard to see them.

It's not a bad lens stopped down to F8 or below.
