First attempt at forest rally stages, so oodles to learn (not least the need for prior research, to pinpoint the most photogenic bits of tree, rather than wandering around with your fingers crossed)...

5 - By the time I reached media accreditation in Deesside on Friday (and 8.15am was a reasonable effort, having set off from Kent), the cars were 90-odd miles to the south. So to kill time I headed for Chester Zoo, which was about five miles away...

Challenging situation, you did well.

I helped Marshall the Wales Rally GB for many years up to about 10 years ago. It was held down south then, around Cardiff and Swansea.

I think it's been about 20 years since some of the 2014 stages have been used in North Wales.

Great stuff, shows the action and all the mud and guts of it.
C&C welcome.

Great stuff. Were the Escorts part of a vintage section?

They were contesting the National Rally, Barrie, about half an hour behind the main event. When I reached one stage, I asked a marshal how long I had to explore before the action began. "The first car is due to set off at 11.06," he said, "and the proper stuff arrives at about 12.40..."

Nice shots there - nice to see the mkI and mkII Escorts

You should have shown the lion shot to some of the spectators and told them it was taken in the forest
K10D, K5 plus plenty of clueless enthusiasm.

Great shots, you've done very well indeed. Very envious.

Great to see the Escorts still storming through the forests. There's something special about the older cars. Same with F1, much rather see and hear one of the 60's or 70's cars than the modern stuff.
