According to the spec sheet you need HDMI output terminal (Type D) like all the other bodies....confused Might be worth contacting Pentax service or maybe asking a friend at the photo club to try one of their cables. D is industry standard due to size. You either have a faulty cable or a faulty connector on the camera. Can't really think of any other reason it would not fit.

It was the amount of plastic around the plug that made it too big for the K-70 it worked ok in the K-3 and now it doesn't so could have been damage by mt trimming it to fit

Thanks Barrie. Had a look at this and it looks quite thick, very like the one I had. SRS are having a root around to see if they have one that will fit the K=70. It's beyond belief that Pentax don't supply this cable especially as it's such a tight fit. All I can say about that in response is my next camera probably won't be a Pentax.

Oh wow, ok. That is very poor design indeed I'd be tempted to agree that the grass is greener elsewhere but been there, done that...it wasn't haha. Lack of thought and poor quality control seems to be the plague of our times, regardless of brand.

It's not the fact of poor quality control it's the penny pinching. Not sure what other manufacturers do but if selling a camera with these ports, HDMI or USB why can't they provide cacbles to fit? I have found the usb cable from a Toshiba external HDD for the usb slot on the K-3, small problem solved

Got one from £1land. Does not fit the K-70 as mini end slightly different shape/size. Worth a pont for a quid though. Bound to be something it will fit. Thanks anyway

I believe the Ricoh HC-1 cable has a mini HDMI end. Worth checking out perhaps?

Seems like Pentax switched from HDMI mini (C) to micro (D) since K-5. For which i could use the Nokia CA-156 adapter.

An short adapter gives more flexibility than an fixed HDMI cable.

Thanks for that angerdan and thanks to everyone else who has tried to help. As almost every U-Tube video I've watched uses a Canon camera I've bitten the bullet and bought and older Canon. If that doesn't work I'll pop it on eBay as I won't be buying any lenses for it. I do like my K-70 and K-3 which I'm keeping so can still be a member of the Pentax User Forum. Should it work OK for what I want to do it will be a permanent fixture to my microscope
