There are plenty of comments around the 'net at the moment regarding this issue. Perhaps they should have started this fundraising mission during the display season this year.
There also seems to be have been some problems with management over the years with this project which has held it up.
I am hoping to see it again in the air next season but how many times do we have to hear the collection tins rattling at the end of every season? They have always tried to arract a major sponsor but this has never happened, if a sponsor was found even for a couple of years then that will provide some kind of certainty especially for those involved in the project and those that work on the aircraft.

I do wonder if the problem is that aircraft require ongoing funding. It's not like restoring a building where the major costs die down for a few years after the initial work is completed. In this case, you put money in and you get Vulcan out!
Having to go on sponsorship drives on a regular basis will inevitably reduce your potential sponsor base - many will react with "but we gave you £2k last month!"
It seems that the big aviation sponsors (Breitling for example) are only interested in things with propellers on the front.
I was at RIAT this year, and saw the crowd reaction to the Vulcan take-off. There was quite literally a standing ovation when she rolled down the runway and took off. Sponsors would do well to note this...

What I find amazing is that this isn't the first time that this has happened. A couple of years ago they were bailed out at the last minute and last year a similar scheme managed to find enough money for this season.
Why have they not foreseen that this could have happened again?
