Vuescan Software - Which Edition?

I'm thinking of buying the Vuescan software to allow me to use my old Minolta film scanner with Windows 7.

I don't know whether I need the Standard or Professional Edition.

On reading various forums, the general opinion is that unless you have specialist needs, the Standard Edition is all you need.

However on Vuescan's website where it states the basic differences between to two it says the Standard Edition "No slide/film Scanning".

Whereas that statement seems perfectly clear, surely it doesn't actually mean that you can't use a film scanner with the Standard Edition.

Has anyone got the Standard Edition and do you use a film scanner with it?

The Standard edition used to scan slides (on a Minolta). I used that version for almost a year before I upgraded to the Professional edition mainly for the ongoing free upgrades, not for extra functionality but to deal with OS changes.

However you encouraged to download and try the software before purchase. If I recall correctly its the standard edition and it leaves a watermark on the scans.
