How will you post anonymous images? Will the system allow posting when you're not logged in?
Best regards, John

Who would be the "overseer" Stefan? The one who won the last comp? That would mean they would have to be available for three or more weeks, if you are going to turn it into a monthly event, which could put people off entering again.
Another forum I am a member of had an anonymous competition which worked very well, until the enthusiasm for it ran out - it's only a small forum, even smaller than this one. That was done in their gallery somehow. Once voting was completed the names of the photographers were revealed. It was all clever stuff.

Congratulations Gwyn you won
Later the names are revealed.
This way the images are anonymous and you lose the entry thread so you only have two threads.
The only bad thing is it's more work for the overseer.
But if you keep a word document and update that daily it wouldn't be that time consuming. It's just copy and paste after all.
So like the judge in the other competition.
The only time you need to be available would be when making the competition and to start the voting thread.
Personally I wouldn't mind to do the technical stuff like collecting the photos and making the voting thread each time however questions about the theme and such aren't for mine account.
I'm still for the monthly Gwyn and from what I remember from the other threads about this competition and creating a new competition was the monthly time frame was suggested I believe by other members.
let's think about it for today if no comments are make against it then I suggest we do it for 4 weeks from now on with the last week off voting.
Gwyn should set the theme, I'll do the technical stuff (if that's okay with everyone) and the entries will be anonymous.

Upload the photo to a website like flickr or photobucket and send the link and the title of the image to the "overseer" when the voting will start he will show all the images in one comment in the voting thread. How will you post anonymous images? Well done Gwyn - great atmospheric/iconic shot - I`m glad I didn`t use the photo of Cyril/Cybille the Wirral Squirrel showing six very raw teats from feeding the new family - he/she`d have been very disappointed !!!

Thankyou Stefan.
If we do it as you suggest it is still possible to see who took the photo by looking at the link.
I'll come up with a subject and we'll do it the same way as this one was run for now, until we can decide on the anonymous factor and the timeline, if that's OK with everyone?
I'll look in again later to see what others have to say before starting the new competition.
If we are going the anonymous route then I'd be grateful if you could do the overseeing role Stefan, I may be away for a few days in the next couple of weeks.

That's also fine with me I'll come up with a subject and we'll do it the same way as this one was run for now, until we can decide on the anonymous factor and the timeline, if that's OK with everyone?
Although let's do it anonymous to see how it goes and to reduce the amounts off threads to two.

yes you're right. If we do it as you suggest it is still possible to see who took the photo by looking at the link.
I could provide my email address or download the photos and simply upload them all to the same account.
The account would be on photobucket then, 500MB storage and 10GB traffic a month is good enough I think if every one sent in a jpg with 800px max and compression from 60 to 80 those files.
Those images are max 250KB so that would mean around the 2000 photos, enough to do at least 50 competitions.
Gwyn, give me some time to set up a new email specially for the entries that way it would be simpler to enter.

So does anyone want to reveal for who they voted and why they thought that photo was the strongest?
I voted for i-Berg but Gwyn was a very close second for me.
Both photos clearly had the theme 6 in them and the technical expect of both photos are just perfect.
I went for i-berg because the photo seemed a bit more original to me in regards to the theme and I just like macro's that are so sharp that you can almost feel the texture.
TOZZA27 I actually quite like your photo but the background was just so wrong that i couldn't vote for it.

So it was a colour issue then ?? - lol
It really was just a shot to test the comp as you wanted and I hardly over-extended myself - all a bit of fun and I quite like the idea of the judging .
I have already stated my preference and vote for Gwyn but yes , i-Berg`s was a very close second followed by the puffins.
More please - at least six - heh heh

The less than symbol probably disappeared as it is also a UNIX redirect symbol!!
The < symbol and any word immediately following would have been suppressed because it is the opening bracket of an HTML tag, which are disallowed in forum messages.
So how did I do that one above, then, eh?
Easy... just make sure there is at least one space following the < symbol, or (if it's essential for it to appear right next to something following) use the form <.
<difficult when you know how, eh?
