Vivitar 6000 Ring Flash on K20 or K200

Just goes to show you shouldn't believe everything you read on the Internet
It supports TTL & Manual (at full power flash), but not P-TTL.
So on my *ist D you get full automation.
On other Pentax DSLR's you have to use it in Manual (ie vary the aperture & ISO to get the right exposure).
Given this is used for Macro where you tend to be a consistent distance from the subject, I haven't found this much of a problem!

I've plumped for a Sunpak DX8R Ring Flash to get me started, as it was new from Devon Cameras, just waiting for the Pentax Shoe Module to arrive from the USA. Reading the Manual it has three modes Manual, Auto, and TTL. I understand TTL does not operate on K200 and K20, but what should I expect to happen if I set it to Auto.

I've just picked up a GX8R sunpak, though I have no manual for it, dont suppose yours covers that one too does it barrie? (probably not as the Gx8r is a bit long in the tooth now). The flash manual talks about setting the camera shutter to the flash sync. speed. In the K20 manual I can only find reference to the sync. speed for the built in flash, is this the same for external flash units?

Sorry I misread your post, I thought you had a K20. Anyway just set it to Manual and use 1/180 and whatever aperture the flash suggests.
