Vintage flash for Pentax ES II

As I now appear to have a functional ES II I'm considering looking for a flashgun of a similar vintage. Does anyone have any ideas? I don't want one where you have to replace the bulb after every shot, but I'd like something that performs well, looks nicely retro and will fit on a bracket next to the camera with the sync cord providing a trigger.

I know I could just use any old flash on the hotshoe, but that won't look anything like as good. For once, trigger voltage does not matter!

Try and get hold of an old Pentax Super Lite II, Not sure of all the specs on it, but I wouldn't expect it to be too powerful, but its certainly retro enough for you.

I had one given to me some time back but unfortunately the batteries were left in it and destroyed the internals, I binned it.

I did find some neat ones where the reflector folds up, but they all appeared to be the bulb type.

I'd have thought that would fit the bill quite nicely.


I have an old Canon flash you are welcome to. I'll take a photo of it later and let you see it. It might not be retro enough, but could always be modified...just remember there are some high voltages inside

Thanks for the offer but I'd rather get a proper Pentax one - aiming for originality.

I'm in no hurry - trying not to spend anything more on this camera until I've put a film through it and know whether it's working properly!
