Yes, you've got to love those purples, the colour one is great. I guess there's nothing really in the sky without the colour, hence your particular crops for each one.

To my eye, the first is a picture of a viaduct, the second is a picture of a dead tree in water. It's all to do with the crop and colours. I like both of them .

First for me - although agree that the crop on the second image shifts the focus away from the viaduct. Both images work

Two very different takes on the same capture - great job on both, Gareth. The coulours are beautiful in 1, the shapes and textures strongly present in 2.

No.2 was taken before the sun had set and the sky was bland and added nothing so it was composed with minimal sky
