Venice

As I mentioned before, there was a business trip to Venice on the list in September. I thought that I posted some shots here already but it was another forum

Terrific city, two days for photos was nowhere near to adequate...

Nice shots Ralf. The second and the penultimate are my favourites.

I must visit there one day.

Venice has such a splendid air of decay - brought out well in these shots. One would hate to see it all repaired and painted.

These are all good, or interesting, or both.

By the way - am I right in thinking that it's a sketchpad in the man's hand in 4 and, disappointingly, not a book:wink!

I like the last shot most of all, ralf. Nice textures in this. Have you tried a B&W version of it?

Nice set of images Ralf, liking numbers 2 and 5, also number 3 has nice textures but I feel the window is too central, IMHO.

Been told it's a lovely place to go.

Superb set. You have a great eye for detail Ralf and these pictures demonstrate it expertly.

Venice is still a lovely destination for photographers as these photos prove, but I tell you ... Prieni must have worked hard to get pictures without tourists. It's crowded! I have an idea that I might try to visit this winter to see what it's like at that time of year.

I think I'll vote for number 4 - simply because that guys ads life to the scene.

If you haven't been to Venice you should go there, it is fantastic. And who knows how long it remains above sea level.

It is not that crowded, once you get a bit off the main tourist paths it is fine. It was a bit more crowded in September than it was the last time I was there, end of October. Also, the second time round you don't need to haste from sight to sight but can wander through the alleyways without aim.

I haven't tried a B&W conversion, haven't got all of the shots converted in colour, yet. But with all the textures I can imagine that some of them would make quite good B&W shots.

Dr. Mhuni, you're right, it is a sketchpad and the guy is drawing a church that is opposite of this building.

George, even if it would all be repaired and painted, it wouldn't take too long until it would look the same again.
