Having a wander around the charity shops in a local town this afternoon and came across the following , Boxed Pentax spotmatic F , fitted with a Smc 55mm F1.8 plus a boxed pentax Takumar 80-200 zoom lens fitted with an olympus om adapter. didnt get the chance to inspect them closely ,they were looking for £100 , just wondering if either of the lens would be any good on digital and worth this ? i have an m42 adapter .
regards, tim.

The lenses are excellent and if it's all in top condition it might well be worth £100. Why not make an offer? You can sell what you don't want on eBay and recoup your outlay plus perhaps more.

Thanks John , went back yesterday to take a closer look ,the 55mm has a bad case of fungus and the camera was in poor condition as well. though the zoom lens seemed ok , it was a secondhand goods shop (not a charity)and the propietor wasn`t prepared to budge on price so left it at that.
regards, tim.

I bought a mint Spotmatic F with case and 55mm f1.7 and even the original invoice on ebay for £29.00

I think the days of bargain Spotmatics with lenses on Ebay are now long gone. Most people have realised they can sell the lenses to Canon/NEX owners for much more than the selling the camera and a lens. Quite why they want 40yr old manual focus lenses so badly is a mystery to me.

There are loads of Spotmatic bodies going for £25, take your pick. The 55/1.8 lenses go for about £30, anything else can go for a lot more.

My best bargain was a Spotmatic + '49mm' lens which hadn't attracted any interest - turned out to be a SMC-Tak 50/1.4 - got them both for £60.

I've bought several and of those I've run film through, they've all worked (one has a seized battery compartment though).

John.
