Cant really answer this as I dont use the software you mention. Only the full photoshop version. But I do use the K5ii. Make sure you are producing your raw files as Adobe DNG files and not the Pentax PEF files and all should work perfectly.
Make sure you download the latest K5ii driver into yout Elements software package... It probably didnt carry it from release...

Fully agree with Stub, it's very likely your software precedes the camera, by using DNG instead of PEF, you'll future proof access to your images. The DNG files are a fraction smaller than the PF, but it's only a few kb's.

If you've already taken PEF files and want to covert then to DNGs download Adobe's DNG Converter
As said, use DNG rather than PEF and you should be fine.
Another alternative is to use the Pentax Digital Camera Utility
Probably didn't and probably won't let you do this, Adobe would prefer you buy the latest version!

I have the K5II and I have Paintshop Pro X7
I capture using DNG Raw files, Paintshop Pro X7 recognizes the files and opens them, edits them etc. no problem. I've not tried with Pentax PEF Raw format.
I hope it's just a case of changing the raw format.

Thank you all for pointing out, quite rightly, that switching to DNG RAW format would solve the problem.
It has - so that is a relief

Just bought a second hand K5ii from one of the big dealers which unfortunately is seemingly producing RAW files that are nor recognised those software programs.
It is being suggested that the problem might be that my software is too old......
Would really appreciate hearing if anyone else has had this problem, I cannot afford to write off that sort of money.
Roger.
