Unwanted light reflection - is it possible to soften it?

Couple of days ago my children made Easter chickens (and gave out most of them to their friends next day so I have no chance to retake pictures). I took some pictures, but after I copied them to the PC I found that many of them suffer unwanted light reflection.

It is my fault, really as I wanted to light the scene better (and this was a polished wooden table) and I put kind of white screen (large plastic box lid). Unfortunately it appears on many pictures in a nasty way.

How can I soften the effect using PP tools (ie GIMP)? I don't have an experience with that kind of a job, can you advice me on that, please?

2) Above the 'nest' and to the left and below:

3) Similar, plus reflection from the plastic box:

Nothing can be done with that kind of reflections, then? Next time I have to be more careful.

I dont think they are that bad, but you could try burning in the lighter areas using a soft brush around 28px, set to midtones and 4% exposure. It doesn't quite get rid of the pinkish tinge though.

Thanks, I tried it in Gimp - there's a similar tool. It helps a bit
