What is wrong ?
Composition is a problem for me here.
Should I remove the hinge and shoot again ?

I think you've hit the nail on the head Aiki (pun intended) the composition just isn't right, the colour and textures are really nice though and it does deserve another attempt, hope you can get it in the same light.

If the hinge can be removed why not try hinge at the bottom as is and the cork at the top but reversed so it is top right corner. You'll either have the number upside down or write it on the back You'll need to shuffle the composition a bit but it might be worth a go. The heavier and darker hinge would in my opinion anchor the bottom of the picture.

Try it without the hinge and the cork hanging down from the nail.

The angle of the nail, shadows and the run of the grain suggest to me that a rotation of ninety degrees to the left. From landscape to portrait.
The cork does not seem to hang naturally, but some great textures.

I'd go along with Marcus - the angle of the cork just doesn't sit right in the frame as is. I'd also perhaps explore portrait options. I'd probably remove the hinge, though it's hard to be too prescriptive without seeing the scene in the flesh.

Is it my screen, or is there some strange effect occurring along the shaft of the upper nail. It's the one part of the pic that's hazy. I've had this occur as a result of flare (I think), but I don't see how flare could have had this effect concentrated along the length of the nail?

Yep, Spider, I might have hit the nail on the head, but I didnt know what to do next. Hmm,some brain injury happened maybe.

Mike, the hinge is there as if on a shelf - put ON the nails (on the wall)
I already tried different compositions, with and without the hinge, portrait and landscape. But I must wait the right light now.
What looks good in bright light, may not work in evening soft light.

Meanwhile I give a clue to dr. Mhuni. I wondered if anyone notices
