Twin Flash for Macro?

Evening. I've been considering getting a dedicated flash for Macro, and have seen lots of good things written about the AF160FC, but, it's no longer made and seemingly rare as hens teeth. Also, being a ring flash it's not considered the best option. Therefore I'm possibly looking at a Twin Flash unit.
Does anyone have any experience of using these, and more importantly, know of a decent unit that is K3 compatible?

Cheers

What was the price?

I had one that I barely used (and it went for a crazy price last year).

Definitely hanging on to mine, then! I have had good results from it and you can change the light output of the two semicircular lights in the ring flash to get a little modelling, rated one of the best. Not enough control though to eliminate reflections on shiny beetles for instance so a twin-light fitting may do better there.

Twin lights will give you double shadows and ring lights are not much use for bugs. Have a look at diffusers that people have made for single lights. Pringle tubes are quite popular.

You will have to diffuse the flash whichever one you go for, whether it's a single, twin or ring.
I use a ring flash on all my bug shots. I made up a diffuser to fit on it and it works fine for my needs.
There's a pic of it in my bellows macro thread

My ringflash cost me 30 and 2 to make the diffuser.

I'm really keen on having a play with the set up from that thread. Looking for that Nikkor lens now!
