Tsunami warning Pacific

I just want to wish those of you in the Pacific, including the east coast of Australia, currently under a tsunami warning good luck. I hope it comes to nothing.

I don't think we have any members in Chile, but if we do I hope you too are OK after the dreadful earthquake earlier today.

I'll add in the USA to that - some areas are once more being hit by very heavy snow.

I had an SMS from the Photomonk about 13.30 today - he has been without all electricity [ power, lights, phone, heating etc etc ] for 12 hours. - a tree had split and came down on the power lines thanks to the storm - the third this week. Where he lives they do not have any gas so rely on oil and electricity .

Once they have some power again he will e-mail me .

Yes, the East Coast has certainly taken a battering again.
My thoughts go out to all of you in the US shovelling yet more snow, and suffering power outages.

The Photomonk has power again - it was out for about 16 very cold hours .

The North of Scotland has also been hit badly thousands of houses lost power about Thursday - I believe the last ones were reconnected earlier today - I hope.

To think we were all saying Global Warming seemed to be a non-event - since then the weather has gone mad .

Some freaky weather going on here too. It's 1:30am and we have a Southerly wind bringing warm air from the Sahara.

It's currently 23 degrees C outside and it's time for bed.

Strange weather all round - Scotland was basically shut down on Thursday (and not too clever on Friday either) by sustained snowfall for 12 hours+

They closed all the beaches here on the east coast of Australia and had boats out at sea watching the situation, as it was nothing happened thank goodness but that still didn't stop people sitting on the coast waiting for the big moment.

Some people they interviewed on the news were upset because there was no carnage unbelievable

Since the big Mag 8.8 quake, there have been 150 further quakes of Mag 4.5 and above - those are not normally called aftershocks or tremors. Most have been over Mag 5.0 and in excess of Mag 6.

How many more before they area calms down? Will there be another massive one as well?

Why don`t you all move to the Wirral ??

I`m sure father ted and I could put up with some immigration to our little microclimate.................

We got beaches,parks,woods,rivers,it rarely snows and we can see the moon from here on a clear night !!

And it's just a short walk across the Mersey from Liverpool and a speedy drive back for them.

We got salmon in the Mersey now !! No - not tinned !!

Would you eat it? Or is it just that the word was shortened for scousers as they could not manage "salmonella" which is more likely.

Amanita mushrooms can lead to hepatorenal failure.

I think you will find that Salmonella is caused mainly by chickens,cows and people with bad hygiene habits - up here we tend to buy our fish , not sit on the banks of the river with a pole and some worms !
