Having just bought 2 lens moneys a bit tight so advice on a good cheap tripod please
spoted a davies & stanford vistra attraras with a ball head on the popular atcion site any body used one?
or have for sale a tripod or recomend a good one i have around £40/£50

Do what i did ,buy quality used . I picked up a Manfrotto 190D for £25 from ffordes ,nice heavy tripod .

Manfrotto 055 has served us well for a few years now.

Second hand is a good idea as you can find a better tripod that way, within your budget. There's no such thing as a cheap and good tripod, they need to be solid and sturdy. Otherwise, perhaps better to rely on ad hoc solutions and the SR system.

I have a beat up, old Miranda that came bundled with a camera that had a lens on the front of it that I wanted ( ! ) I had to make a quick release plate for it because it didn't have one and it serves me very well. Having looked through Ebay for a replacement with the real plate I was surprised at how many of various makes are advertised with their quick release plates missing. Do make certain it's all present and correct if you are buying there.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Thanks for all your advice i have bought a very nice Giottos tripod but it came with a Giottos mh 1312 ball head with a Giottos mh 652 quick release plate both in very good order any body want to swap heads i much perfure a pan & tilt head either a Giottos or a Manfrotto one
