Nice set, Peter. Newspaper archives are full of pictures like this which give us a look into the past. I can easily see these in a paper today and being poured over in 75 years time when someone wants to look back to the "good old days".

Definitely don't want to pour over a 75 year old newspaper, that would really annoy the curator.

Thanks for viewing Folks -- I was worried that some of the 'running' ones had 'movement' as although I had set 400 ISO ( ASA) the shutter I set was too slow at 1/250th -- should have set 1000 ISO (ASA) as 'noise' is never a question in newspaper repro when the image is made up of 4 coloured dots, Yellow, Magenta, Cyan and Black.

There was a competition in the main street first which meant lots of BEER Drinking and carrying Beer Barrels while having Flour Paste thrown by local kids, then a 'Tug'0'War' across the River between two Pub teams. I used my K10D built 2006 with a 35-80mm f4 SMC Pentax-F, a 70-150mm f4 SMC Pentax -M manual focus and a 17mm f3.5 Vivitar manual focus. On some I used some weak fill-in flash from my Sunpak auto 36FD -- I was up against some other photographers with HUGE CANONS with HUGE 28-200mm f2.8 lenses -- one staffer from the 'Guardian' had TWO Canon EOS 1 -- I think I got a few good snaps for the paper though.
