An excellent set George. I'm glad you filled in time before the race came through with some off-event shots to make a proper documentary of the day and also changed your position to give variety of view points.

Not really my thing, I admit, but you have certainly captured the excitement and the action (or inaction!) of it very convincingly

They really portray the excitement and energy of the event. Apart from the first which is a total contrast and my favourite

A very nice photo documentary, George - action and atmosphere captured with equal aplomb.

David, you may have misunderstood. I was in the same position throughout, high up opposite the sharp left bend but able to look down the hill as the cyclists approached. I got there around 9.30, by 10.00 these prime spots were pretty full and the bikes didn't come through till around 12.45pm ! An excellent set George. Unlike cars on a circuit I was only going to get one chance and had little opportunity to move so didn't bother with panning (the bikes were fairly slow where I was so it would have been tough to get right). Got there early for a nice spot (glad I did) as it soon got pretty packed on top of the hill.
I used the K3 and Sigma 50-150 and K5iis with 17-70,
Anyway a few of my efforts :
No 1 Waiting
No 2 Pleasant surprise, 2 of these flew through Hope vally - heavily cropped)
No 3 Leading Pack (well ahead of Peloton)
No 4 Leading Pack on the bend
No 5 Stragglers
No 6 There they go
No 7 Support Cars
No 8 Waiting for the peloton
No 9 Here they come !
No 10 Peloton 1
No 11 Peloton 2
No 12 Wiggo !
It was good fun (weather helped) although tough getting shots when you know they're not coming round again !
Feel free to comment, provide any tips for this sort of thing.
Regards
George
