Top tip for a Friday night

Ok, so you've acquired a slightly skanky camera bag in an eBay auction, you really only wanted the lens but it was attached to a camera, and that was in the bag.

It's no worse than a lot of your own crap, but this is someone else's crap, so you want to spruce it up a bit.

Obviously you empty out all the unspeakable bits of unrecognisable stuff that accumulate under the flaps, but then what?

Obviously, it goes in the washing machine , and comes out pristine.

Here's the tip:

Do the separators, er, separately. The stiffeners inside the velcro-y bits are cardboard, goddammit. And now a bit, er, yucky.

Dry them failry quickly, in an airing cupboard, and they'll (probably) be fine.

I don't like buying bags second hand as they tend to be worn quite badly. Then again if it comes with kit inside included I won't complain.

Cardboard is cheap and hidden which is why they use it. It really is stupid but you can't really do anything about it, unless you make your own dividers. That's a good idea, might do that to make my bag more customisable.

"Failry" is the word - not these ones. We're talking Disintegrationsville, Arizona, here. It's all in the airing cupboard, but it's going to be a case of slicing them open (once dry), emptying the reformed papier-mache out, and replacing it with something stiff. Cardboard, maybe.

The bag itself isn't bad, actually.

You can get some plastic sheet and cut it to size, much more durable and washable. Plus it won't bend out of shape as easily.

I must have misread the topic title as I thought it said "top tip for friday night" I was hoping to read some exciting ideas like "go to the pub" or even "go to the pub" or even my favourite...."go to the pub"

I do have loads of fine belgian beer in my fridge at the moment you are welcome to drop by and imbibe a few...

However, I live in The Hague and I don't get BBC4

You can get a cheap flight from leeds Bradford to Schiphol and be in the Hague in a couple of hours
I only have fine Limburg beer in my fridge at the moment, oh, and some Hoegaarden in case it warms up again.

You need to fork out for digital cable - then you'll be able to enjoy Hawkwind too. I haven't yet forked out for it - too many music programmes on BBC4 that the OH will want to watch. Make a change from sport though!

Casema Digital with extra channels is only and extra 10 euros... it's quite tempting

Loads of Petrus and Palm Special, and although Hoegaarden is nice Franziskaner Weissbier aus Muenchen is way better

Most of Hawkwind are still alive, but rarely talk to each other. And Dave Brock will never talk to anyone, especially if Nik Turner is also involved.
