Forum advertising

Following on from the colours thread, I note that we now have to contend with a big Pentax User Group advert that takes up a substantial proportion of the available screen width.

I can just about live with the advert at the top, since I can easily scroll past it if necessary.

But the side bar is dreadful; it's distracting, and it means that pictures posted now have to be even smaller to get them on to the screen without scrolling.

I understand that running a forum is not without cost - I run one myself. But I'd rather pay to belong to the forum than have to live with that.

I know what you mean. I don't mind a word from our sponsors - or even two but this is annoying. Funnily enough when pictures are posted the side bar vanishes off my screen, to see the sidebar I have to scroll sideways. So I am happy with any photos that appear.

Actually you're quite right, apologies.

It's not that the pictures have to be smaller, it's if they aren't wide enough, you get the sidebar as well which distracts horribly.

But it's still vile IMO

Er, wasn't that always there? Had the front cover showing the scrambler bike for ages, and I nearly sent a message to someone to say it was high time it got updated.

It was more about what was in the magazine, rather than the other benefits too, but I'm sure it was there.

It's been there a while, but somehow it seems more intrusive now. Maybe it's with the compulsory change of colour that it is more obvious, or maybe we are just paying more attention because of the colour change

It was there. Just goes to show how important colour is - but as photographers we knew that...

So the _only_ thing that's changed is the colour??? The ad in the right hand sidebar has been there all the time??? Really???

No, it was there, and it was a previous issue of PU for a long time, as previously mentioned.

Don't worry, I'm very unobservant too, but I did happen to notice that one.
