Tilting Verticals

Go on then, how do I straighten my images that have a slight 'lean'?

I used to have a program years ago that was DOS based, but I seem to have lost it.

Bear in mind that I hate complicated programs.

Faststone is easy to use, even I can manage it! In fact it is what I use most of the time for most things.

Took me a while to realise that it would straighten verticals. Look for the rotate function. It will rotate to left, right and Other. If you click 'other' you can control the amount of rotation by degrees, with a nice little before and after panel. Dead easy!

PSE does it too.

You can correct the tilt in Photoshop and also correct converging verticals and horizontals as well.

The quickest way to correct a tilted image is to use the crop tool - resize and rotate at the same time.

Otherwise, the Transform tool is an effective method.

HG - Lightroom v3 does the same thing in its lens correction module (if you shoot RAW, LR is very useful). There's manual control for all of that in there.

I bought (for very little) the excellent plugin PTlens, corrects verticals and lens distortion - worth all of the few pennies it costs !!

In CS3 and above, Press and hold Ctrl press A then still holding Ctrl press T, whilst still holindg Ctrl left click any corner and drag image until straight. Click the green arrow, job done. Then press Ctrl D.

I used PTlens until LR3 appeared with perspective correction. Now you don't have to convert RAW to TIFF.
