Tidal river footbridge

I hada go at some long exposures of this foot bridge here in Wilsons Prom national park.
First time doing this so all feedback will be welcome.

I had a few questions about what f stop people use and so on, also the preferred lens?and set up?

All nice shots Don, Were you using different types of filters or just the one. As 1 and 3 have the same type of colour cast that i get when using my filters. The cast is usually fairly easy to remove in p/s colour management sliders.
For me the f stop i use varies on the amount of light there is (cloudy, sunny, time of day) and the effect im looking for, or end up with by happy chance , I generally start around f8 and usually end up around f13 with varying exp times depending on how much movement there is in whatever im taking a shot of.
The lens i use is a Pentax F28mm f2.8. I think its a cracking little lens but i use it cos i have it and its the widest lens i have, not because its particularly suited to this. (but it maybe)

Thanks Derek,just the help I was after.I did swap filters as it got darker,they are only a cheap set so that may account for any colour cast.

Hi Don. i have cokin square filters and holder, not that cheap and like i said i get varying colour casts depending on which i use, the big stopper gives a very blue cast and the two i have give a magenta cast. cant remember what stops they are. I have read on here somewhere which filters dont leave casts but i dont know where i came across it. (Might have been lee or hi-tech)
What f stop are these shot at and the exp time ?

that is a lovely scene, taking the magenta cast off 3 certainly makes a huge difference . i found Cokin gave a magenta cast which is worse if you stack them or on very long exposures, Hi Tech by a company called Format gave a slight blue cast which is easier to get rid of ,sometimes just warming the image slightly would do it. this was on 1st generation and i believe they have improved since. if you have really deep pockets then Lee are the ultimate .

Derek[/quote]From memory it was f4 ( at the time I thought this is wrong) and exposure was 1 to 1.5 mins as it got darker.

Hi Don, that's quite a long exposure. Was it late in the day or night when you took these ? If it was it might be worth going to f13 or f16 and use no filter, as there are no obvious moving points (river I know) a shorter exp time might do. (30 secs) might be worth a try ?
