I'm most impressed by that flying Owl William, I took twenty shots and they were all blurred or out of focus, I must try harder . The ripple experiment has come, nice one.

Well, here we are three days later and I have sifted through my collection and would like to share these two with you

It was good to meet you all. It's nice to be outside with a group of people with a common interest. I think we spend too much time at computers and not enough taking photographs. Computer watching can make you cranky!!

Well I suppose I'd better upload my contribution, but dont get excited.

Ken pointed out this flying wotsits otherwise I'd have missed it, I'm not going to say what it is with my track record of getting them mixed up

There were just too many Raptors to choose from, and far too many to remember the names of them all, I thought the plumage on this one was really nice.

And the shot that doesn't quite deserve to be here but it is the BEST flying shot out of the dozens I took

Well James it may surprise you to know this was shot at f8, the light was kind and I managed 1/2000sec.
The "Bigma" is an unofficial name given to the Sigma 50-500mm, this shot was at 310mm.

And for referance the Bigma has (supposedly) a maximum aperture of f6.3 at 500mm though this always shows as f6.7 on Pentax cameras for some strange reason.

my two shots were also taken with a bigma. It's anice lens but it is light greedy and heavy. Still can't have evrything can we? If we had the perfect equipment photography would be like F1 racing - boring!!

Some great shots all round - I am particularly impressed with the close ups of the birds and dragonflies - looks like I need to investigate a bigma

Ken - just had a look at your gallery - impressive - what lens did you use for the dragonflies

Graham - I like your shot of the ripple - came out better than my attempt
