The second image is particularly good 😁

Phenomenal!
Have you any idea what the diameter of one of those pollen grains is?

Really nice images. Really good display of what a good focus stacking workflow can achieve.
Hats off to you sir

Thanks,Chaps.
Put an uncropped frame of the stack on my screen.
(Roughly) measured the frame width on screen as 230mm, & one of the grains ,on the same screen, as 2mm.
The grain is, therfore approx. 1/115th. of the (APSC) frame width.
APSC frame with is approx 23.7mm.
23.7mm divided by 115 = roughly 0.2.
The grains are approx,. 0.2mm in diameter.
Is this ok, does it work, is it about right..............?
(Edit)
No.This combination of lenses gives a repro. ratio of 4:1, so.......
Does that make the grain (0.2 divided by 4) = 0.05mm.
Excuse me, my brain hurts.
I'm going to bed......
Thanks for looking,
Roger.

That's just stunning work, well done. Love seeing stuff like this (that's genuine backyard science!)
All the gear with no idea

I really like the second one too.
+1 agreeing with the backyard science comment above:
2 lenses (one reversed)
a flash
39 frames
3 slabs (whatever they are)
great work.

Wikipedia says the diameter of a pollen grain is between 0.006mm and 0.1mm, depending on species. So your estimate looks pretty good to me. And you've got detail on those grains that could well be 1/10 of 0.05mm = 0.005mm.Does that make the grain (0.2 divided by 4) = 0.05mm.
Have you ever thought about getting a scanning electron microscope? No need for focus stacking, think of the time you'll save!!

Impressiv!e! Composition-wise, I prefer the second image - very well processed, too

After a tentative enquiry, shall we just say it would have to be birthday & Christmas combined,
OR
the basement gym & cinema would have to be put on hold
AND
the shepherd's hut & the beach hut at Sandbanks would have to go as the down-payment......
Oh, sorry!
It seems I've been dream-posting.....

Peter, a slab is a sub-stack.
So, in this case 3 slabs x 13 as opposed to 1 stack x 39 frames.
I find it's a bit quicker.
( NB but see above,,,)
