I have never been overly impressed with Pentax's digital compacts.(I have a feeling that I'm gonna regret saying that!). So... I'd quite like to see something special and a bit different, in that area. A fixed focal length (35-40mm equiv) compact with an APS size sensor. Something a bit like the Sigma DP2. A waterproof, rubberised casing, maybe. Tough enough to take some abuse without breaking and small enough to carry in a jacket pocket.

I still use my Optio 550. I would like it brought up to date to match or exceed the Lumix LX3.

An fully functional 2x teleconverter ! or even a 1.7x. They already have the optics and body and just need to ensure all of the contacts are available.

1. Firmware update to allow user to choose SDM or screwdrive focus.
2. 24, 25 and 30 fps framerates for ALL their video modes. If it can do 30 it can do 25!!
3. FAST Glass! some 1.something f stops please.
4. Re release some of the old glass (or DA* versions) 300 f2.8;250-600;600 f4
5. Meet us half way on current lens pricing. (a 100% increase really hurt)
6. Keep pushing the high ISO low noise quest.
7. Teleconverters!!!

A sensibly priced 35mm would fly off the shelves I reckon, and a split focussing screen would allow us to get the best out of the older lenses without resorting to expensive or poor quality third party items.
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

I'm assuming you mean a Pentax version of the Tokina 80-400mm? - ATX 840 AF-DHere's a thought. Without resorting to what is clearly not going to happen, what would we like to see added to the Pentax range that is a realistic proposition?

Whilst a very compact lens, it doesn't enjoy the highest of reputations.
If Pentax do do one it would need to be better than the Sigma 400mm & 500mm HSM zoom offerings. I had the previous 80-400 mkII and it certainly wasn't as good as the DA 55-300. Okay it had 400mm reach but that was it's only saving grace.
Also, I'm not sure that the Tokina/Pentax design co-operation agreement is still current, nor that the 80-400 would come under that agreement.
I actually think a decent 18-200 super-zoom would make more commercial sense, but personally, I would like to see TC's (1.7x is a nice compromise between 1.4x & 2x) with focal length multiplier info for correct SR operation and EXIF data like the latest Kenko units for C & N. Also much improved AF (SDM) speed and better overall QC.

1. A small DSLR (Ds sized) but aimed at the more enthusiastic amateur, so above the K-x but below the K-7.
Failing that:
2. An Olympus Pen equivalent EVIL camera - as good looking as the new I-10 if possible.
Failing that:
3. An I-10 lookalike with a bit bigger zoom.
4 A 250-400* zoom. Having just got the 60-250 I wouldn't want an 80-400
5 An SDM TC.

So many want a fully functional SDM TC and it must be the easiest thing for Pentax to make.
As I said above, they have made them before and the A series work well with DA lens so all they need to do is use the same lens element configuration and body with the various drive contacts being passed through. They were already working it last year before it dropped off the road map - if they do bring one out the initial sales will be huge.

(1) I agree with Richard about 18-200 (or 18-250) being commercially sensible. But I'd make it WR too.
(2) WR 55-300, preferably with faster focussing
(3) Either a Pentax badged version of the rumoured update to the Tokina 80-400, or something else that covers the 100-400 range, preferably in a similarly compact form
(4) A fast 28mm DA Ltd - to give us "standard" field of view on APS-C

I would like a DA 16-105, preferably WR and with SDM. This should replace the excellent though somewhat short 18-55mm WR kit lens that comes with the K-7. The Pentax lineup lacks a good general purpose lens which all other manufacturers have.

I also like the idea of a quality Pentax split prism focus screen that allows accurate spot metering without exposure compensation.
