The Olympic torch in Chester

Thought I'd post a couple from this morning where the Olympic torch set off on its day 12 journey in Chester across the suspension bridge.

Cracking shot the first, love the heat haze off the torch.

I love that haze too - I think it really makes the shot.

It was much cooler (likely down to the fact it was 6:55am) than the previous days journey through Chester and surrounding areas. The shots I had seen taken by friends and colleagues from the previous day hadn't caught that.

I'm glad I decided to make the effort yesterday morning rather than on the previous day. Plus the crowds were much smaller!

Seriously though - thanks for the comments chaps, My only slight disappointment with the first shot is the Chester rowing teams' oars that were on either side of the bridge in a kind of salute. You can see them top left. It looked great, but did get in the way for the closer shots.

If you can make it I would strongly recommend it.

I was perhaps a little cynical about the whole relay race, but after making the effort and getting a few great shots (and riding alongside the torch on my bike for a bit - which was fantastic) I was completely won over and I'm really glad I did it. It was a rather special morning.

We're doing it more for the kids, so they can say they were there.
It just depends on traffic for me, as I have to get past the torch to go through Liverpool and could hit a bit of congestion, then find a parking space somewhere near Birkenhead Park. And I'll arrive at about the same time as the torch. But...fingers crossed!
