The ideal DSLR

I could probably extend the range with what I've got or even set up another network with a more powerful router (my spare) or even an ad-hoc connection, but it's not really that important at present because the photos load when I go back into the house anyway. Maybe later I might try some remote triggered bird photography and would be away from the camera and would want the photos transmitted back to check that I'm getting what I want.

I'm trying to convince Gerri to buy two eye-fi cards... I want to stick go-pros to my dog and cats collars and set up a blog "WTF is Rocky and Kittenbob up to"

hi - saw this geo tagger in PU announcement, but it only supports 3 different models (and unfortunately not my model) - however, would prefer it built-in. Regarding the power consumotion, it must be possible to switch off the tagger, as well, as the Wifi (like in an iPhone, where you can easily switch off wifi or gps)

I'll just want a camera that works!
100% viewfinder, silent shutter, good build quality... basicly the K5 but i do want a faster flash sync speed though and a better flash system.
I just fail to see why GPS or WIFI makes your camera better at making photos... so i don't want it in the body and pay for it, besides would GPS or WIFI work well when it's surrounded with stainless steel and magnesium? Better to have it outside for better reception.

Hi Stefan and others questioning the GPS - this is perhaps based on my personal photo-live - as I travel a lot, it would be helpfull to have this data and why should it not be possible to have a built-in gps that can be turned off to safe battery. This is a but like with many EXIF data - you can also question, why a photographer can't remember his settings and I am sure, an interface that stores the camera settings as exif data might be as expensive to build, as a little gps tagger. also wifi provides some great possibilities - connecting a camera to an ipad or iphone, you hopefully find a smart app developer, that can develop a remote control app, or a remote view finder app, or at least a download app and suddnely yiu have a great bundle that offers many additional features

I'd like accurate metering with older lenses. Although the take a shot-> look at histogram -> adjust exposure -> repeat until happy route works, fast it isn't!

I believe the metering is better with the K5 but I don't have one to check!

can I have the 77 zone meter from the K-7 on my K-5 please? I don't know why they went back to the 16 zone for the K-5, it seems odd.
Also, 1/250 flash sync.

Oh, and the rather wonderful 51 point fast AF from Nikon in my K-5 too.

Finally a far bigger buffer, as if I am shooting 7fps, it takes an age to transfer to the (already class 10) card.

apart from that, I am happy with what I have got (apart from I want a 645D, but thats another matter.......:wink

Taking my K-x as the basis, I'd like:
More pixels - so that I can crop a bit more.
Full frame sensor so that I can get the field of view and the combination perspective/foreshortening for each lens that I prefer from film cameras.
Brighter viewfinder to aid manual focusing - I expect the K-5 has this.

In an ideal world:
Black and white that has the texture of fast film.

Impossible: I want a camera to be small and light so that I carry it, but at the same time heavy and big like my old T90 so that I can hold it steady. Sadly these are mutually exclusive.

The only reason I'd like built in GPS is to save me a step in PP - as it is I have to transfer the GPS log to the photo Exif using Locr or GeoSetter. Geo Setter works with RAW and DNGs too but is a pain to use with them. Locr only works with Jpegs but is easy to use. I am quite happy with my Qstarz logger otherwise.
I'm still not clear as to whether the new Pentax logger writes directly to the Exif in camera or if you still have to go through a program to do it.

I would quite like a tilt and turn screen. I wouldn't use it often, but there are occasions when I wish I could. A bounceable built in flash, which you can manually set would be the icing on the cake.

Otherwise the K-5 is pretty near perfect for me.

I have been using Geosetter, but it doesn't always get it right when you upload to Flickr...generally works pretty well though. I have started photographing the GPS display when I take aerial shots and using the coordintaes to tag the pictures. It is a bit time-consuming though. As it uses ExifTool you can also write other (copyright, website, contact info etc) stuff to the exif at the same time, for which I have made a template.

Apart from that, I would prefer a tilting LCD screen too, and the option of auto-focus while shooting video. I like the idea of a bouncable built-in flash too. And no noise at 12800 ISO would be pretty amazing...

The K5 seems to meter pretty well with my Pentax M 135mm f3.5, bit it's the only completely manual lens I own, so not sure how well it would work with others.

I have all the copyright info in camera, but also when I upload to PSE it automatically adds contact details and stuff.

I'd like a d-slr that can allow me to place my watermark (ie transparent background, gif) into a folder on my memory card and then have an easy to use function in the menu system that will apply the watermark to my images on export... perhaps as part of the "RAW processing in camera" function.

I would like a black-and-white sensor camera with huge dynamic range and resolution, and B&W coloured filters set into the body so they can be used with any lens.

And yes, I know this will never happen, I just WANT it!
