The Enchanted Woodland

Yesterday I went to one of my favourite photography locations ever, Padley Gorge in the Derbyshire Peak District. This is a dazzling wonderland in Autumn, with a beautiful stream (Burbage Brook) rushing down the gorge and the most fabulous ancient woodland full of Sessive Oaks and mature Beech Trees. It was a great opportunity to test out my cheap ebay purchase K-1 and my new Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 lens, along with a couple of old favourites (other K-1 and Pentax-M 28mm f/3.5).

If you haven't been to Padley Gorge and you live within striking distance of the Derbyshire Peak District, I would highly recommend it, especially at this time of the year.

What a lovely set, with some amazing crisp scenes. The 28/3.5 shots are superb.

A lovely autumnal feel from those trees and leaves.

I'm usually not keen on milky water, but I'll make an exception for No. 10 - the colour and almost abstract nature of the picture more than compensate.

Thank you very much Haris, the M28 f/3.5 really is a revelation on the K1, it's worth seeking out one of these lenses as they can still be had for a fairly good price (around £50)

Yes, you've genuinely demonstrated the best the lens has to offer with those scenes, there's a 3D pop and depth that is hard to capture with these newer lenses

Very nice work David - I particularly like your take on long-exposure water shots, putting the effect to use in composing a compelling overall image (as opposed to using it for its own sake).
