It doesn't look like sensor dust, but if that is the environment in which he keeps his stuff, I've seen enough regardless.

Weird, because they're Canadian.

You must have been to one of the big box stores? No self-respecting photographer hasn't heard of those. Quote:

Sadly, the small "real" photo stores are becoming harder to find. I only know of one in about a fifty mile radius from where I live. I fear the day when customer service is run out of town by Amazon's pricing and that shop closes.

But the dirt's in the same places on each shot so they're not scans...

Could be! I've never used one of those but wouldn't the constant movement of negs through it knock the dust into different patterns? Also, would a hardcore eBayer really use film? Not that there's anything wrong with film but for convenience it's not a patch on digital as we know...

I'm not sure, I have one of those scanners and the negs go in a plastic caddy which is maybe 5mm thick, so I doubt it touches anything. Not sure if just the airflow of the caddy passing a few mm away would rearrange the crud. If it's anything like the airflow needed to shift some of the crud on my dslr sensor I would guess not
