I must be really dense, well I am, but I have been trying to tether my K20 to my laptop with absolutely no joy. Help.

Damned K20Ds, more and more reports of them wandering off! Have you tried nylon string, I understand they can't chew through that?

Dan

P.S. I've not tried it with my K10D, but there is this thread here which I would imagine would apply to the K20D too - you need to use Pentax Remote Assistant anyway. Depends what you're actually trying to achieve by shooting tethered.

P.P.S Welcome to the forum, by the way!

Edited because I obviously can't spell 'Remote Assistant'!
K-3, a macro lens and a DA*300mm...

Essentially you need:
1: Pentax Remote Assistant III (PRA3). This software was supplied with your camera, or it can be downloaded.
2: A RAW converter programme like Adobe Lightroom that can sit there looking at a 'watched folder' for any images arriving.

Start Adobe Lightroom (or whatever).

Set-up PRA3 to save its images in Lightroom's (or whatever) 'watched' folder, and snap way.

This procedure works OK with PRA3 and Lightroom 2, it was less successful with earlier versions of PRA.

If you are using Windows Vista, sometimes Pentax Remote Assistant doesn't start by itself when you hook up the camera. If that is your problem, try right clicking on your mouse, then left click "run as administrator". That should solve your problem if you are using Vista.
