Gary did you use your zoom while it was raining/the camera was wet?
This is what happens when I zoom my K-5 with a DA 18-135mm WR. A lot of air gets sucked in and out from the rear of the camera.
Cheers,
Brian

Which suggests a seal is compromised. To my knowledge there is no venting arrangement in Pentax camera bodies, (but I'm happy to be corrected).

Perhaps, I did the test after I read from another member here that he had tested his K5 the same way. Maybe someone else would do a similar test of their K5?Which suggests a seal is compromised. edit: Found the thread. Look for posts from Tyr
edit 2: The DA* 50-135 seems to be internal zoom though so air sucking might not be the problem after all.

Thanks. Interesting reading. Makes me wonder, then, about the seals, and whether they're WR only when the camera is not being operated?

What's interesting was my gx20 had for the most of the weekend the tokina 100-300mm attached which most definitely is not sealed, yet suffered no issues what so ever.
I can still use the camera through the grip as I have three weekends of work lined up sending in for repair and renting is just not feasible so will soldier on for the time being...
Re the shutter button.
First it stopped focussing on half depress for half the day, so I used the af button instead, but gradually the shutter button responded less and less until it would do nothin. I don't think this is water related and is just a failed component.
