For me the oddest thing is if you look at the first two images of both the 300mm and 500mm the 1.7 appears closer than the 2x teleconverters. I have checked, they are in the correct order.

1.7x and 2.0x are just notional values and the TC's are from
different makers. I've already mentioned that in another thread today.

The values are only nominal anyway. They refer to an unspecified
lens (probably 50mm) at an unspecified distance 1m or infinity..
who knows. Plus as you focus a telephoto closer it's focal length
becomes less and the 1.4x focal length will vary.
Indeed you have Algi, and valid comments. I feel a proper "scientific" test coming on, was wondering what to do this Saturday The values are only nominal anyway. They refer to an unspecified
lens (probably 50mm) at an unspecified distance 1m or infinity..

The 1.7x seems to be the clear winner, which isn't all that surprising as it's shorter than the others. A comparison with some 1.4x TCs would have been interesting
The 1.7x does not support SDM, by the way, although its screw drive is very fast compared to many lenses (including SDM ones).
